The 10 Best Family-Friendly Beach Holidays in Europe

I think it’s fair to say that holiday costs have gone through the roof in recent years. My husband Tom and I got lucky between two lockdowns and booked a crazy-cheap and wonderful holiday to Spain with our then toddler, Greta (technically my son Frank was also with us I later discovered, a mere kidney bean). It cost relatively very little, so when booking an all inclusive resort holiday for the first time since, we were knocked sideways by the price hikes.

It’s not just the costs involved. Planning a holiday can be a daunting task, especially when you’re traveling with young children. The challenge of balancing affordability, convenience, and fun can seem overwhelming. But fear not, mummas! There are numerous family- friendly beach holiday options that cater specifically to families with young children, ensuring a memorable experience without breaking the bank.

Here’s a guide to some of the best and cheapest package holiday destinations for families:

1. All-Inclusive Resorts in Spain

Whenever I hear the word Benidorm, it immediately conjures images in my mind of overcrowded beaches, high rise buildings and the faint smell of garbage in the streets (actual memories from a fun girls trip when I was 18)

Although in some parts, these are fairly accurate descriptions, there is also way more to Benidorm and the surrounding areas than meets the eye. Hiring a car for my family has always been a must and can turn a basic family holiday into an enriching travelling experience. We found stunning waterfalls, beautiful mountains, cliffs, remote beaches and picturesque villages on our trip to Benidorm and my family and friends were pretty suprised by the photographs we shared.

Spain remains one of the most affordable and family-friendly destinations in Europe. The country offers a variety of all-inclusive resorts that cater specifically to families with young children.

Popular regions like Costa Brava, Costa del Sol, and the Canary Islands are known for their beautiful beaches, safe environments, and numerous family-oriented activities.

Why it’s great for families:

• All-inclusive deals: Meals, snacks, and drinks are covered, eliminating the hassle of budgeting for food.

• Kids’ clubs: Many resorts offer kids’ clubs and activities, giving parents a chance to relax.

• Short flight times: For families based in Europe, Spain is easily accessible with short flight times.

2. Turkey’s Family Resorts

So Turkey is where we’ve opted for this year. Tom and I have been a couple of time before, childfree, so this is set to be a different holiday vibe. Turkey offers some of the best value-for-money holidays, particularly in regions like Antalya and Bodrum and you regally can’t beat the water park hotel options when it comes to holidaying with kids. It’s a bit further to fly, from the UK at least, but the journey is worth it given that the family resorts are known for their exceptional service, wide range of activities, and stunning coastal views.
